There are fresh water springs all over the Adirondacks. Most of them have some sort of shelter built over them
(keep animals out, keep loose soil out, etc.)
Most of them were built of material meant to keep the spring itself cool. This one (Lumberjack Springs) was built in 1937 out of cement, even the roof.
