This was taken on Sunday, April 2nd, 2001...... the day before Arizona played Duke for the National Championship in college basketball. The site of this picture was the Crystal Court in Minneapolis, Minnesota. ESPN was broadcasting Sportscenter from the atrium of this building. We got to meet many members of three out of the four teams in this year's Final Four™ (the exception being Maryland; we never spotted any of their players or coaches). The same day this picture was taken we ate lunch (at the Mall of America) at a table next to the Michigan State team. They were extremely friendly and courteous to everyone...... considering they had been eliminated by the University of Arizona the previous day.
Luke Walton was an extremely polite and accommodating guy; Pat and I thought that he was easily the most best-natured kid of all the players we met......... the epitome of California cool!

By the way, my beloved Duke Blue Devils defeated Luke's team (Arizona) the next day to win their third NCAA basketball championship.
