La statue plaquée or de la Bonne Mère, (la Vierge Marie portant l’Enfant Jésus dans ses bras), culminant à 162 mètres, joue également le rôle essentiel d’amer pour tout navigateur approchant la cité phocéenne.
Ensuite, nous poursuivrons par la découverte du Vallon des Auffes, un petit port de pêche méditerranéen, charmant et anachronique, enchâssé à l'intérieur même de Marseille, la deuxième ville la plus peuplée de France après Paris.

To start with, we will warm up by visiting Notre Dame de la Garde, the iconic Roman Catholic basilica of Marseilles, regarded by the population as the guardian and the protectress of the city.
The gold-plated statue of the ‘Bonne Mère’ (Virgen Mary carrying the Christ Child in her arms), 162 meters (531.50 feet) at its highest point, also appears to be an essential sea mark for all navigators heading towards the Phocean city.
Then, we’re going to carry on by the discovery of Vallon des Auffes: a little, charming and anachronistic Mediterranean fishing port, embedded in the very core of Marseilles, the second largest city in France after Paris, the capital.
