This letter was written in 1907 while our grandmother, Ethel, and her younger brother Wade were attending boarding school in Spokane. I believe that Ethel would have been about 16 or 17 at the time. She was writing to her Mama and Papa after being informed of the loss of her younger brother, Francis, back home in Harrington. We are so fortunate to have this letter as it provides such a vivid portrait of Ethel through the words she wrote. Also take a look at her letter written in 1918 just prior to her death.
