Great day for this visit to Whiteface and Passaconaway in the Sandwich wilderness and I had really nice company. Started with an amazing sunrise that I had to stop to take a photo of. The trail was broken out but a lot of loose unconsolidated snow on the way up Whiteface.. We used Hillsounds to get over the ledges and I needed my small ice axe and then put a piece of rope down for my hiking partner and a couple of other people who had already given up and were going to turn around. Switched to snowshoes at the outlook, enjoyed the views then made our way over to Passaconaway on the Rollins trail. The rest of the hike was uneventful and when we got to the water crossing we switched back to spikes and crossed on the log. Nice day in this beautiful area of NH! 22/48 for the winter list
