Beautiful hike in the snow up the Starr King trail. Parked on Rt 2 and walked the extra .3 of mile to the trailhead. Total was 8 miles with 2825 ft of ascent elevation and finished in a little over 5 hrs, about an hour longer than the last time I hiked this trail. Trail was in great shape, packed but fresh snow and blowing drifts made it a bit soft in places so absolutely needed snowshoes. Between Starr King and Waumbek the drifts were fairly deep and the trail disappeared in a few sections.
