We didn't have any family obligations for Easter Sunday so decided to visit the mountains and hike the Twins and Galehead. We went out and back from Beaver Brook because we weren't sure about the water crossing on Little River. It ends up being 16.3 miles with about 4800 ft of ascent so makes for a good day! Down low is bare ground and mud, water crossings were normal, up high there was about 4 ft of snow in the woods and the trail is in great shape. We switched to snowshoes for the steep ascent and to go over to north twin then left them on for the return until the rocks and roots started poking through the snow again. Conditions couldn't have been better! Not many people out just a few elite trail runners (always love to see them) and a couple of backpackers. Perfect day!
