Another trip down the bumpy Success Pond road in Berlin, NH to explore more of the Mahoosuc Range. Hiked to the summit of Mount Success and found the plane crash site just south of the summit as described in numerous articles on the web. Very interesting hike on a wet trail passing artifacts from an old logging camp, the summit which is vast and filled with wildflowers and finally to the site of the 1954 plane crash. It felt surreal standing there and thinking about how horrible it must have been for the 4 crew members and 3 passengers on the day of the crash and how amazing that 5 of the 7 were rescued 2 days later. The outlook loop on the way down was fabulous with gorgeous views!
