We hiked our final two 4000 ft peaks in Maine and finished the New England 67! The Saddlebacks are an amazing hike and it felt surreal being above treeline for 3 miles with those views to Rangeley lake and Carabasset Valley. What a great way to finish the Maine peaks, definitely a favorite all time hike! This hike was about 14 miles with 4000 ft of ascent, miles of granite slabs...the pictures don't do it justice. Started this year with only 2 Maine peaks finished and Covid came along, changed our vacation plans so we ended up in Maine a few times to finish the other 12 peaks. Maine hiking is like NH in some ways, rugged, remote, beautiful but in many ways I prefer it because of the wildness and the uncrowded trails.
