We hiked these two peaks on different days in the same winter.. Whiteface was a beautiful snowshoe hike on a blue sky day. Even the ledges were covered with snow and we were able to use snowshoes from car to car! We had different conditions on Passaconaway last month requiring only microspikes as there was a lot of hard packed snow and ice. Most people do these two peaks together as part of a loop but in the winter, with plastic boots and aching feet I am happy that we took our time. My new snowshoes rock though and can't wait to do more hikes like Whiteface soon!
