Hiked Owls Head via the Black Pond and Brutus bushwhacks on a packed trail with softening snow and melting ice which led to spikes and snowshoes all the way. This is a 17 mile hike out and back from Lincoln Woods with a few stream crossings that make it challenging. Black Pond avoids the first two major water crossings and Brutus avoids the slide which can be treacherous in the winter.
