Wow was this a tough hike today! Great test of all my gear...it was so warm that the snow was melting and falling from the trees making it feel like I was hiking in heavy rain. I wore snowshoes the entire way and needed them due to the softening of the snow. After the first 3 miles I was soaked -- right through my gortex coat -- and was happy to have 3 more layers plus two extra pair of mittens in my pack to change into. When I got above treeline I was surprised at how windy it was! I was getting blown all over the place but made the summit and was happy to finish my 11th trip up the Moose. Took me 5.5 hrs to finish this 7.8 mile hike with 3300 ft. of ascent elevation.
