Snowshoe hike in really tough conditions up the Flume Slide trail to the summit of Mount Flume. Snow was wet and heavy and really deep on the slide and the ridge making this the hardest hike I've ever done.. Heavy snow helped on the return as we were able to glissade on the slide. It took us all day and we were able to hike out in a beautiful sunset, view the almost full moon rising, then used headlamps back to the car for the last mile. Total mileage 9.6 with 3100 ft of ascent elevation. This was my second time hiking the Flume slide. Exciting, scary and very difficult in the winter!
