Jellies - Artistry in Motion

The Monterey Bay Aquarium's signature exhibit are jellies. Displayed in large windowed tanks and bathed in soft light, visitors become captivated and mesmerized by these graceful swimmers.

Perhaps we are fascinated by their stunning colors are shapes, or by their pulsing bodies and trailing tentacles, or by their potential deadly defenses. Whichever, we are able to see them in astounding detail close up.

As tripods and monopods are prohibited, capturing these moving creatures in low light and through thick glass stretches the camera's ISO levels and focusing capabilities. But the resulting images are a way to share the artistry and beauty of these amazing creatures.
