Middle Tide Zone

This tidal zone is uncovered with every 10w tide in a space ranging from about 2.5 feet above the mean low tide to the zero point or mean low tide. This region is teeming with life when compared to the high-tide or splash zones. The plant life here grows in great profusion and is represented by many species of algae. The plants are especially important to animal life because they protect animals from desiccation and high temperatures, and afford many protected sites.
