This species is actually a wasp, not a bee. It uses floral resources during it's adulthood, but provisions nest cells with other insects (rather than pollen) as protein sources for it's young.

You might want to check your species on this one. This does not look like Habropoda miserabilis. They are silver. www.fws.gov/humboldtbay/beeguide/bees.html
