Il y a six années nous avions posté une galerie intitulée «And you… do you like France ? ». En introduction nous évoquions les difficultés auxquelles la France était confrontée et certaines des images témoignaient de ces difficultés.
Depuis on ne peut pas dire que la situation s’est améliorée, loin de là !
La société française (on peut maintenant parler de sociétés françaises au pluriel) subit de multiples tensions. J’en évoquerais quelques-unes au cours de cette nouvelle galerie.

Il suffit de traverser les villes de France aujourd’hui pour voir combien la population a changé. Les « joueurs de cartes » attablés dans quelque bistrot de province que Cézanne peignait et qui reflétaient le rythme lent de l’existence n’existent pratiquement plus.

Un nouveau voyage, en diagonale, du Nord-Ouest au Sud-Est du pays à la fin de l’été 2023 révèle toutefois une réalité un peu plus rassurante : les villages, les terroirs, les paysages témoignent de la survivance d’une identité qui plonge ses racines dans un passé ancestral et qui semble insensible à l’affrontement des idéologies et aux vastes mouvements de population.



Six years ago we posted a gallery called “And you… do you like France?”
In the introduction we evoked the difficulties that France was facing and some of the images showed these difficulties.
Since then we cannot say that the situation has improved, far from it!
French society (we can now speak of French societies in the plural) is experiencing multiple tensions. I would mention a few in this new gallery.

Just cross the cities of France today to see how much the population has changed. The «card players» seated in some provincial bistro that Cézanne painted and which reflected the slow pace of existence practically no longer exist.
A new journey, diagonally, from the North-West to the South-East of the country at the end of summer 2023 reveals a reality a little more reassuring: the villages, the terroirs, the landscapes bear witness to the survival of an identity rooted in an ancestral past that seems insensitive to the clash of ideologies and vast population movements.
