Cette nuit j’ai rêvé de l’Inde. J’étais assis dans un train qui traversait le sous-continent du nord au sud. Des neiges de l’Himalaya au Cap Comorin. Un très long voyage de plusieurs jours et de plusieurs nuits. Le train s’arrêtait souvent : grandes gares, petites gares, haltes en rase-campagne...
Les images d’une Inde magnifiée par l’inconscient défilaient derrière la vitre du compartiment. J’étais en Inde, mais le verre de la fenêtre maintenait une constante distance entre moi et la réalité.
De même que pour un photographe le viseur de l’appareil photographique le maintien à distance du monde, la vitre du compartiment me tenait à distance de l’Inde réelle.

That night I dreamed of India. I was sitting on a train that crossed the subcontinent from North to South. From the snows of Himalayas to Cape Comorin. A very long journey of several days and several nights. The train often stopped: large stations, small stations, stopovers in the open countryside...
The images of an India magnified by the unconscious scrolled behind the window of the compartment. I was in India, but the window glass kept a constant distance between me and reality.
As for a photographer the camera’s viewfinder keeping the world away, the pane of the compartment kept me away from real India.
