For the Pbasers who know the cartoon "The Adventures of Asterix and Obelix" (I see that there are some through your comments 😀 ) a little precision: The authors - R. Goscinny and A. Uderzo - made the despair of generations of History teachers forced to explain to their young students that Asterix and Obelix were Gauls fighting against the Roman legions of Caesar, so at a period located in the 1st century BC and that the menhirs that was supposed to work and deliver Obelix had been erected four thousand years before the Gauls (Celts) arrived in Armorica!
The authors had perhaps sensed the persistence of this anachronism spread to so many generations of readers because of the constant success of their Comics: had they not given the little dog of Asterix the name of Idefix (fixed idea)!

I couldn't follow along all the commentary, but anyway this is a great view of these impressive stones, however they got there.

so true, as the site is actually a Roman legion turned to stone by Merlin!!...an excellent image that carries the eye deep into the menhirs..

Only Obelix could have used the Menhirs for striking and as projectiles. :) V
