Dès l’instant que, en 1907, le Royaume de Siam restitua le site d’Angkor au Cambodge, alors colonie française, deux événements importants se produisirent : la prise en charge du défrichage et de la restauration des temples par l’Ecole Française d’Extreme-Orient … et l’arrivée des premiers touristes.

As soon as, in 1907, the Kingdom of Siam gave back the site of Angkor to Cambodia - then a French colony - two important events took place: the taking over of the clearing and restoration of temples by E.F.E.O. (French School of Extreme East) … and the arrival of the first tourists.
