El Galeón ou Galeón Andalucía est la réplique d'un galion espagnol du XVIe siècle, ces galions qui depuis les ports espagnols ont commercé au cours du XVIIe siècle avec divers ports d'Amérique et d'Asie. Il a été conçu et construit en 2010 par Ignacio Fernández Vial, après un long processus de recherche historique. Il a eu, dans son premier voyage, un équipage de 32 personnes dirigé par le professeur de navigation Antonio Gonzalo de la Cruz.
Le bateau mesure 51 mètres de longueur hors-tout et 3,40 mètres de tirant d'eau. Son pont principal porte un beaupré et trois mâts avec sept voiles. La structure est en bois de chêne, d'iroko et de pin avec un revêtement en fibre de verre. Bien qu'il soit une réplique, il inclut la technologie du 21e siècle, pour garantir la sécurité à bord.
El Galeón or Galeón Andalucía is the replica of a Spanish galleon of the XVIth century, one of those which, since the Spanish ports, traded with ports of America and Asia. She was conceived and built in 2010 by Ignacio Fernández Vial, after a long process of historic research. She had, in her first journey, a crew of 32 people managed by the professor of navigation Antonio Gonzalo de la Cruz.
The boat is 51 meters in length overall and 3,40 meters of draft. Her main deck has a bowsprit and three masts with seven sails. The structure is wooden of oak, iroko and pine, with a cover in fiberglass. Although she is a replica, she includes the 21th century technology, to guarantee the safety on board.
