On day 2, I took a scenic route from Vernal, UT, to Grand Junction, CO. The roads were loads of fun, so I didn't stop much to take photos.
Dinosaur to Rangely was a great ride. Almost no traffic and lots of hills and sweeping curves. Rangely to Meeker followed the White River valley with lush farm land along the way. Meeker to Rifle was scenic, but heavily traveled.
After a short trip west on I-70, I exited on highway 65 toward Grand Mesa. The first two photos here were taken at a rare moment when I actually stopped along the highway. Grand Mesa is huge, and the views on the way up are awesome. At about 10,000 feet, even in mid-day, it was cold riding across the top. Again, not wanting to stop riding, I missed opportunities to take photos of many forest-lined lakes across the top of the mesa.
The temperature warmed back up on the descent toward Cedaredge. Approaching Delta, I turned left on highway 92 and followed it down long the Black Canyon. The last few photos here are from a few more places where I actually stopped for a moment for the views of the canyon. This ride, from just south of Crawford all the way to highway 50 was fantastic. The scenery was great and the road was fun.
I wrapped up the day taking highway 50 west to Montrose, then north to Grand Junction. This route totalled 430 miles.
