The village probably originated around 700. The first written mention of the village was in 982; it was called Mundiveld. The existing church was completed in 1053 by monks from Seltz. There are apparently some beautiful paintings and baptistry in the church- unfortunately it was not open.
Hans Bübel from Minfeld became known in 1525 as the leader of the Peasants' War.
In 1814 Tsar Alexander of Russia, Emperor Franz I of Austria and King William III. of Prussia led a triumphal procession through Minfeld when they took the land east of the Rhein back from France. In 1816 Minfeld was ceded to Bayern (also called Bavaria).
