Kandel, Pfalz, Germany

Kandel was the larger of the family towns, and was where we stayed, since it was the only one in which I could find a hotel. It did seem to have more traffic and activity than the others. Strangely, I could find no history of the town online. I am sure it dates back at least to the early 1500's since I have seen genealogical records (not ours) from then, however, the whole area was inhabited since the stone age, with celts, then Romans taking over. It has been a wine region for centuries. I do not know when the town of Kandel was first settled though.
We saw solar panels all over Germany- even on barns and sheds. Hotel Zur Pfalz, where we stayed Entering graveyard- our first stop that morning These crosses must represent the soldiers fallen in WWII whose bodies made it back home
Nuss and Jung, of course, are family names. No idea if these are distant cousins g9/15/788915/3/163182805.OnyoLFmY.jpg There would be no direct descendants from either World War since they were in US since 1880s. This is the last name (Roedel or Rödel) of my 5x great grandmother. Possibly a very distant cousin. Also Hocks in line in 1600s
From the young loving heart of the wife this monument is dedicated to the beloved husband and father- or something like that. g9/15/788915/3/163182810.xGMRUxZ4.jpg All of the villages had Fachwerk or half timbered houses- some more than others. g9/15/788915/3/163182812.HhhCD0nO.jpg
