Erlenbach bei Kandel

Birthplace of Gran's mother's father and his paternal ancestors as far as I could follow back. Family names associated with Erlenbach are Steiner, Wuest (Wüst), Vogt, and Runck. These surnames were found on a WWI memorial. While probably distant relations, they were not ancestors- all of our ancestors were emigrated to the US or had died by WWI. Strange feeling, seeing family names on enemy memorials.

built this house. (May not be exact but is close-My 50+ year old memory of Old German script is not great.) While it was definitely a town, some of the back yards looked rural g9/15/788915/3/163106210.ulVoqBrd.jpg The pole above the house with the platform is a stork nest- with the stork in it.
