Before you make any major decisions, check out these guidelines

Making big decisions can be challenging as well as stressful. There are plenty of factors to consider before making a big decision. There are a lot of decisions you will have to make in your twenties, for example, whether you'll be moving out of your family home, where you'll live after college, your future career plan and whether you'd like to have children or pets. Also, you must decide if you'd like to travel, or if you want to save money to purchase a home or even start a business.

In your teens and in your early twenties, your most important decisions will be about what you'll cook for that someone you met last night or whether you need another glass of jello. This means that it is possible that you haven't had to make major life choices. Actually it's possible that you're not good in making choices.

This was all my experience. I was very sociable growing up. I couldn't make decisions based on fear of offending people and letting them down or being unable to say "no" when someone were asking me. As you get older you change your mind when you reach your 20s, so I was taught the hard way how to make great decisions. 1. Ask yourself what you really want

Do you think a career in the corporate world sounds like the ideal job for you? Or would you prefer to launch your own business? Are you planning to marry and have kids or do you prefer to spend some time exploring your soul and traveling the world? There are many avenues that you can choose from in life. It helps to understand what you want before you make crucial choices.

2. Ask For Advice

Don't be afraid to ask for advice; it's not an indication of weakness, you're simply getting different perspectives on a situation and someone could provide insight into a situation which you hadn't thought of. Ask anyone older relatives, younger relatives acquaintances, colleagues, or strangers the more points of view the better. Be conscious of the old saying "Too many cooks ruin your broth". Do not let other people's opinions influence your choices.

3. Question Your Motives

Are you climbing the corporate ladder because you enjoy the work you do or because you love the cash? Maybe neither of these things and you're actually doing it to make your family proud. Before making the leap to quit a career which was not for me, I had to ask myself, "Am I doing this to benefit myself or other people?" I soon realized I was doing a job I didn't like since it seemed like the right choice, and not because it was making me feel happy. This is the same for people on the brink of other life decisions Are you planning to marry due to the fact that you cannot bear to live without your partner or because all of your friends have gotten married? Do you think of having a baby because you're eager to be motherhood or simply because you aren't sure of what the future will bring? It's difficult to ask the tough questions, but it can aid you in reaching the destination you'd like to be.

4. Compare the Pros and Cons

There are pros and cons to every aspect of life. However, weighing the advantages and disadvantages of your potential choices is essential. You could discuss this with a friend, family member, or your partner, as they may have a completely different perspective to you. You can weigh up the advantages and disadvantages of your choices by talking them through with someone or literally listing them out on paper, your computer, or phone so that you can view the options in black and white. Even if the option you prefer has more negatives than plus points, your heart might still be aching to go in a certain direction and it's definitely worth considering that. You might be surprised at the number of emotions you feel!

5. Ask Yourself If You Will Endanger Yourself or Others With Your Future Decision

Every decision, no matter how minor, could have a significant influence on the lives of other people. You might be debating whether to remain in a stressful job that offers very little or no time off for an enormous raise. It might be worth it however it could result in you not having the time required to enjoy the work. This could cause stress at work, which can affect your health and impact the relationships you have with your loved ones. It is obvious that if you're trying to decide whether you want to divorce an individual or break up with a friend to fulfill a legitimate reason and you're not sure, you're likely going to hurt someone's feelings in the immediate future however, in the final, it's the best choice for you both. The risk of hurting someone else by your choice is not the same.

These guidelines will help make your big decision seem more like a hill , and more like the top of a mountain.
