These Burrowing Owls reside in a location south of the PNM Reeves generating station in Journal Center, Albuquerque, NM. I will not reveal the exact location, for many reasons, but primarily for the Owls safety.

So it happens to many of us on our way to the office, where we see a sight that is interesting. Such as these Owls. Now I can't claim to be the one who spotted and has seen these Owls for some time now. I'll credit my friend Allen for that. And for his mention of these Owls Friday; July 18, 2008 morning. I dropped by these Owls at lunch yesterday and scoped it out. I also entertained bringing a camera back with me to the office (one must pay the bills after all). I opted for waiting until morning. Better light.

So, the first two photos were taken as I neared the Office, just grab shots right from the truck window. The sun was just hitting the volcanoes atop the West Mesa. On to the Office I proceeded. Half an hour later, the sunlight was starting to hit were I wanted it. So into the truck, and off to the Owls. We had some rain the previous night and the dirt in the area was damp. Anyway, I got down low, think squatting, and took shots, and worked my way to what was a distance that I though the Owls would no longer tolerate.

Here are the results. My favorite would be 080718_070428, if it didn't have some man made material in the shot. I had a difficult time narrowing these down. If the man made material were not in 080718_070428; for me, that would be the one shot if I had to limit it to only one.
