A Woodpecker having it's way with one of the dying trees in the Sangre de Christos. You can see the white specs to the right which are the result of the pecking at the tree as the Woodpecker looks for insects.

A Bud worm infestation of the spurce trees in the nineties has resulted in the death of roughly half of the trees.
