FL banded watersnake head - IMG_1852

Florida Banded Water snake is essentially harmless and is not venomous. Note that the eyes are round and can be seen directly from above. This is a young one. As he gets older he will go much darker and resemble a water moccasin except for the eyes and the band patterns.

I thought exactly the same thing as Dick - the shape of head is quite different. Pretty coloring and patterns on this one. Nicely done, Dale.

Yes the different shaped head is a giveaway. Moccasins definitely have the Triangle shaped head for the venom, sacks I think.
