A few photos taken south of the Platte River between Darr Bridge Road and Gibbon which are named exits on I-80. I have added some photos taken this year to the photos on display. The first dozen images are from 2005, April, and the rest are 2006, March.
The river is just south of the Interstate and the country roads are gravel for the most part. The season is not over yet but by mid April most of the birds will be gone. Good resources are available at www.roesanctuary.org and www.cranemeadows.org for planning next years viewing. A long lens is a must. 400mm is barely adequate and I was using an APS size digital camera. A good tripod or window mount would be useful too. A huge snowstorm (think blizzard) in Mid-March did not send the cranes north as I thought it might.
