Scenes From The Davis Mountains

The Davis Mountains area in West Texas is one of the state's most beautiful places. With minimal development, this area is an oasis of natural landscapes and abundant wildlife. Home to the Davis Mountains State Park, the University of Texas McDonald Observatory, and historic Fort Davis, it offers visitors a variety of educational and recreational activities. Within the Davis Mountains State Park visitors can either stay in one of the excellent campsites, or relax in comfort at Indian Lodge which was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1930 and is now maintained and operated by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. These images, captured in September 2006, hint at some of God's creative handiwork in this pristine and peaceful environment.
