These are images I captured during a June 2024 Trip to Canon City, Ouray, and Ridgway, Colorado. The gallery includes a sub-gallery of buildings in the ghost town of 'Ironton', Colorado -- a former silver mining town in the Red Mountain Pass Mining District near Ouray. In its heyday, Ironton boasted a population of over 1,000, and had stores, saloons, hotels, and two trains daily from Silverton. Sadly for Ironton the silver mining industry was in decline, due to the declining price of silver, affected greatly by political influences such as the repeal in 1893 of the 1890 Silver Purchase Act just three years after its passage.
