One thing I absolutely love is watching Painted Redstarts as they forage. They flair their tails out and flutter around and get into all sorts of wild positions. This one was happily flitting away in Madera Canyon earlier this month and wasn’t the least bit shy about sallying out to within a few feet of where we were standing. They are FAST so I don’t usually manage many photos of their antics so I was pretty happy to be able to share this one.
