Sometimes when I am out in nature, I encounter things that are difficult to witness. Yesterday morning on the auto-loop at Brazoria NWR I found this injured Black Skimmer standing in the road all by itself. I tried to catch the bird to see if I could take it to a rehabber but the skimmer immediately flew away far out of sight. I can’t imagine it will be able to feed with its beak like that and it looks like a pretty fresh injury. If anyone reading this is in the area over the next couple of days please be on the lookout, I imagine this bird will be weakened by lack of eating and might be able to be caught and brought to someone who can help.
