Spring songbird migration at the coastal Brazoria County migrant traps has slowed fairly drastically over the past few days. This isn’t to say that there haven’t been lots of migrant birds passing through the area; in all likelihood the past few days have seen more migration activity than any time this spring. However, due to favorable wind conditions it seems that very few birds have had to stop. That’s great news for the birds but it means that one has to really search to find the few birds that are around. This Yellow Warbler was one of the only warblers I encountered during my search yesterday. With only a little bit of heavy songbird migration remaining I find that I am appreciating the few birds that I can still find even more than normal.
