This Blackpoll Warbler was fun to see last weekend. It is one of the warblers I really look out for in the spring because their typical migration pattern is different in the fall than it is in the spring. In spring they are regular visitors on their way north here in SE Texas but in the fall, they typically do a pretty amazing migration over the Atlantic from the northeastern part of North America all the way down to northern South America without stopping. For that reason, they are rarely seen in Texas during the fall. If you live in Texas and don’t plan on following them north to their breeding grounds, you don’t want to miss them in the spring.
