I can’t ever look at a Greater Antillean Grackle without thinking about the first time I saw one years ago in Puerto Rico. We had stopped at a restaurant to get lunch and I spotted several grackles out in the parking lot. I suggested we go out and photograph them right away but the others in our group preferred to eat first and photograph them when we were done. I watched them through the window as we ate and the birds remained until a couple of minutes before we finished eating. When we finally came out to photograph the grackles they were nowhere to be found and we didn’t see another one for the rest of the trip. Thankfully, there was no shortage of Greater Antillean Grackles in Cuba and we had many opportunities to photograph them.
