This Smooth-billed Ani was one of several that flew across a nearby agricultural field and into some brush near us during our visit to Cuba last month. They are amazingly agile in the dense vegetation and surprisingly good at staying hidden, at least enough to avoid giving a clear photo. For that reason I think my best photo of this species of the trip was this in-flight shot since it was the only one that didn’t have a branch covering at least some part of the bird.
