There was an abundance of Brewer’s Sparrows during our visit to Arizona earlier this month which was quite a thrill for us Houstonians who never see these birds near home. At one point there was a bit flock of what seemed like a hundred or more of them. Unfortunately for me, their preferred perch seemed to be barbed wire fences which isn’t my favorite. They also were very good at landing in places with the sun behind them so I was pretty excited when this landed on something other than wire and where the sun was at my back. Brewer’s Sparrow doesn’t have all the color and bold markings of some other birds but I do still thoroughly enjoy seeing them.
