Tuesday morning the weather looked like it was going to be fabulous and I wanted to take advantage of it but had commitments from noon on so I decided to make a quick trip out to Brazos Bend to see if I could have any luck with the Henslow’s Sparrows that have been seen there recently. When I arrived, it looked like it was going to be a perfect morning and I did notice some sparrow activity before the sun came up. Not long after I got all set up for photos I was joined by Mike Williams (Twilly) who obviously also thought it might be a good morning for sparrows. We watched and waited and as things often happen with bird photography, nature ended up doing something different than what we expected. We did get a glimpse of a Henslow’s Sparrow but not really anything that lent itself to photography. What we did get was this Grasshopper Sparrow that was doing its best to look precious.
Mike and I had a good conversation and got some nice photos of this sparrow so I’m glad I went out. Nature always seems to give us a reward if we are open to it.
