One of the fun things about trips down to the Lower Rio Grande Valley is watching for raptors and our visit last month was particularly successful in that respect. There were tons of raptors around so we had ample opportunities to photograph them.
This Harris’s Hawk was one that I really liked from the trip. We were at Falcon State Park and this bird and what I assume was its mate took off and started riding a thermal higher and higher in the air; circling almost directly above us at one point. I really love the markings of these hawks.
