This bird from our Ethiopia trip in August was identified as a Boran Cisticola and after studying the field guide, I can’t come up with anything better. The cisticolas remind me of the Empidonax flycatchers here in the USA. They look very similar and ID seems tricky but maybe it’s just my lack of experience with cisticolas? It is so much fun to visit places with families of birds that are totally different from anything we get at home.
