A favorite way that I have found to beat the summer heat is to head for the beach. The sea breeze and water offer comfortable conditions to wait for the action. In this case I was lying in the water with my camera observing a group of Reddish Egrets that were foraging in the tide pools at the Bolivar Flats Bird Sanctuary. At first my approach pushed the birds away but by saying still the birds eventually ventured closer and closer until I was able to get the photos I was after. It is such a thrill to be able to experience the birds in their element going about their daily activities.
