This Rufous-tailed Jacamar was hanging out fairly high in the trees along the road to Arenal National Park during our visit to Costa Rica last month. He was pretty comfortable staying up where he felt safe but did entertain us with a couple of impressive sallies to catch small flying insects, always returning to the same perch. I particularly enjoyed seeing and hearing him making his call.
