This male Lineated Woodpecker proved to be quite a photographic challenge during our visit to Costa Rica this month. It got us all excited when it flew in and landed in an excellent perch on a nearby tree but before we could snap any photos it started hitching it way up and around the back of the tree. Of course it wouldn’t be a proper woodpecker experience if it didn’t occasionally pop out for another excellent view every once in a while and the hop out of sight before we could achieve focus. I think we were all quick enough to get at least one shot of this beauty before it disappeared off into the woods. Hey, if it was easy it wouldn’t be as much fun!
We will be doing this trip again next spring, if you think you might be interested more information is available here: www.texastargetbirds.com/group-photo-trips/2018-costa-ric...
