Kingfishers are always popular when I take people out birding and northern Costa Rica never disappoints. This American Pygmy Kingfisher might as well have been a paid model as it sat for us for well over 10 minutes allowing us to approach close enough for excellent photos. The bird showed no sign of fear and even dove for several fish and returned to the same perch over and over as we clicked away.
