I had the opportunity to photograph this beautiful male Northern Cardinal earlier this month down in south Texas. This species is very common pretty much all over the state so most of the locals here seem to be a little numb to them. I know I am often guilty of not paying much attention to these red beauties. I usually get reminded about how cool this bird is when I see how excited people get when they see them who don’t have them in their back yards every day. Yesterday I was reminded by my guest how pleasant it can be to spend time focusing on the common and she is right on the money. So please enjoy this common bird from my “back yard”.
