Over the years I have spent quite a bit of time trying to photograph wood wrens, usually without success, so when we encountered this one on our October Costa Rica trip I almost blew it off without even trying. However, on this trip I was the only one who had actually seen a Gray-breasted Wood Wren before so we made an effort and for a brief moment the effort paid off. Hopefully the others got as lucky as I did.
