Another fun point of this past week’s trip to South Texas was a visit to Lamar, TX to look for the endangered Whooping Crane. Always interested in birds we were busy checking out some gulls when I looked up and saw one of these lumbering beauties flying past. We followed it to one of their popular hangouts where it landed with four others. I don’t now which one of us was more excited but we did spend a good bit of time watching them walking around and interacting.
