Tympanuchus pallidicinctus

The Texas panhandle was the last stop on our recent chicken run and the target bird was the Lesser Prairie Chicken. We were definitely not disappointed as there were close to 20 males and at least three females on the lek putting on one heck of a show, often at such close range that I wasn’t able to even focus on the bird. It was a great way to wrap things up.
